1955

In 1955 the shore is lined with finger wharves, each long enough for a ship on either side. Warehouses and terrace houses climb the hill behind them.

2005

By 2005 the fingers have been filled in to make one long concrete apron for container ships, mostly empty, with a cruise ship berthed at its southern end.

NSW's photos stop before the towers, the casino and the headland park were built. Open the map and choose Now to see them.
